My Favourite Quote

About Rosie’s Journey
Rosie Oliveira was born in Brazil and spent her childhood in the beautiful coastal city of Vitória, where she developed a passion for art at an early age. In her twenties, she created meticulously hand-drawn invitations for numerous birthday parties and weddings. She spent many years in London, and during her time there she experimented with painting on silk. She returned to her love of art in 2011, when she moved to Singapore. She joined the Cabaleiro Art Studio, where she learns painting under the supervision of the Brazilian artist Patrícia Cabaleiro, and she also took classes with the well-known artist Astrid Dahl. In addition to painting, she has learned silk-screen printing and paper-making at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute.
Rosie paints in a highly expressive and joyful style that combines bold colours to explore a variety of very personal themes—works that are abstract and modern; spiritual paintings expressing love, unity and harmony; abstract paintings integrating symbolism with personal meanings; contemporary scenes of daily life in places she has visited around the world; and images from her recurring dreams. She uses acrylic paints, mixed media, and textures like sand, rice and newspaper. She is continually looking for new techniques that can bring greater individuality to her work. Rosie has travelled extensively, and she takes much of her inspiration from the unique people and cultures of the places she has visited.
In April 2015, Rosie exhibited a collection of works with the theme “My Singapore” at the Affordable Art Fair Singapore, along with her fellow artists from the Cabaleiro Art Studio. In October 2015, at the Embassy of Brazil in Singapore, she exhibited a set of works with the theme “Connections”, inspired by a variety of cultural parallels between Singapore and Brazil.
Rosie About Herself
I paint in a variety of styles–works that are abstract and modern, abstract paintings containing symbolism that has personal meaning to me, contemporary scenes of daily life in places I know around the world, and images from recurring dreams I have.
My paintings are an expression of my thoughts and ideas, inspired by my life and dreams. I use acrylic paint, mixed media, and textures like sand, rice or newspaper. I make sure I create colourful and expressive paintings full of joy. I love to discover new techniques that bring greater individuality to my work.
When I’m painting, I like to concentrate completely on my work–by meditating, and by visualising and creating expressive pieces inspired from my conscious and subconscious thoughts.
I hope you enjoy my paintings!
Meet the people who inspired me!

When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
